Although that could be the case, they still have created more awareness of the problem and moved people to some sort of action. The concern is that people take the small steps and then think they are done instead of moving on to bigger things. I've also heard discussions about re-framing environmental messages away from "save the planet" to "save the quality of your life and that of your children" which is a great message for health, too.
